About Bloody Foreland
Bloody Foreland takes its name from the deep red colour the headland turns at sunset - one of the most spectacular sunsets on the Irish coast. The headland is the north-west tip of Donegal, exposed to the full force of the Atlantic, with a sand-and-rock beach below.
It catches W to NW swells and works on E offshore winds. The geometry is steep into the beach and the wave can be heavy when bigger. Best on a clean swell with a long period. This is remote north-west Donegal - bring everything, and respect the wind, which here can shift fast.
