About Red Strand

Red Strand is a small south-facing beach in west Cork, near the better-known Long Strand and Castlefreke. It catches the same S to SW swells but the bay geometry concentrates the wave energy into smaller, cleaner peaks - quieter than its larger neighbours.

The beach works on S to SW swells with N offshore winds. Mid tide is best. Limited facilities at the beach itself; it's a low-key west Cork spot worth knowing about for days when Inchydoney is too busy.
