Inchydoney Surf Forecast
About Inchydoney
Inchydoney is a two-beach surf spot at Inchydoney Island, just outside Clonakilty in west Cork. The beach is split into a Big Beach and a Small Beach by a rocky headland. Both face south, both pick up Atlantic swell wrapping into the bay - Big Beach is usually the main draw, with cleaner peaks and more space.
It works on S to SW swells with N offshore winds and handles size well thanks to the bay's geometry. Mid tide is the sweet spot. The Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa sits on the headland and runs the year-round surf school - the beach is just below it. Plenty of parking at the lodge end.
Hazards & Notes
- Rocks at the headland between the two beaches - know your exit
- Busy with families and bathers in summer
- Rip current on bigger swells, especially at the south end
- Cold water year-round outside high summer
