About Barleycove

Barleycove is a remote, sand-dune-backed beach in west Cork, a short drive from Mizen Head - the most south-westerly point of mainland Ireland. The setting is spectacular: bookended by headlands, framed by extensive sand dunes, and a long way from any surf crowd.

The beach catches SW swells and works on N offshore winds. It's quieter than the busier south-coast spots and well worth the drive if you're working west Cork. Facilities are limited: a small car park, a hotel nearby, no surf school - you bring everything you need.
