About Long Strand

Long Strand is an exposed, 3 km west Cork beach near Castlefreke, with no bay shelter to soften the incoming swell. That makes it one of the more powerful beaches on the south coast - when other Cork spots are flat, Long Strand often still has something to ride.

The beach catches a broad S to SW swell window and works on N offshore winds. Multiple peaks shift along the strand with the tide. There's parking at the western end and access via a short path. Best for confident beginners and up.
