Lahinch Surf Forecast
About Lahinch
Lahinch is one of Ireland's flagship surf spots - a long, sandy west-facing beach at the head of Liscannor Bay, in north Clare. The main beach is a forgiving, mellow peak that works on most W to NW swells and is a popular place to learn. To the left of the main beach sits Lahinch Reef - a more serious left-hander that holds bigger swell and rewards confident surfers.
Lahinch comes alive on any W to NW groundswell of 0.8m+ with a clean easterly offshore wind. It works through the tide on smaller days but closes out at high on bigger swells - mid is the sweet spot. Plenty of free parking along the promenade and in town. It can get busy on clean swells and on weekends in season, so be patient in the lineup.
Hazards & Notes
- Watch the rocks on exit at the reef end - pick your moment
- Avoid exiting at high tide - rocks are closer to the shoreline
- Rip current at the reef end on bigger days
- Can get busy on clean swells and weekends in season
