About Mullaghmore Strand
Mullaghmore Strand is the sandy beach a few hundred metres south of the world-famous big-wave Mullaghmore Head reef. Where the Head is for experts only, the Strand is a forgiving, beginner-friendly beach break in the same bay.
The beach works on NW swells with SE offshore winds - same window as the Head, just at a much smaller scale. It handles size well thanks to the sheltering effect of the headland. Mid tide is best. If you came to Mullaghmore to surf and you're not sure whether you should be at the Head, you should be at the Strand.
