About Belmullet

Belmullet is the surf town on the Mullet peninsula in north-west Mayo - one of the most remote and most consistent surf destinations in Ireland. The peninsula has water on three sides, multiple beach breaks, several reefs, and gets battered by Atlantic swell all winter long.

This is a region for the self-sufficient surfer. There's a surf school in town and a handful of local crews who know the spots, but no big tourist infrastructure - you're hours from any city. That's the appeal. The beaches around Belmullet handle size well and the reefs come into their own on long-period NW groundswells.

Elly Bay is the most popular individual spot on the peninsula.
