About Coumeenoole

Coumeenoole is a small, dramatic beach at the foot of Slea Head on the western tip of the Dingle peninsula. It's one of the most photographed beaches in Ireland - featured prominently in the film Far and Away - and one of the most scenic places you can pull up a board in the country.

The beach catches SW swells wrapping around the Dingle peninsula and works on N offshore winds. It's a small bay so the wave window is narrow and crowds appear quickly when conditions align. Best on a smaller, cleaner SW swell with a long period. Parking is limited; arrive early.
