About Banna Beach

Banna is an 8 km west-facing strand near Ardfert in north Kerry, sitting between Tralee Bay and the open Atlantic. It's one of the longer beaches in the country and catches plenty of swell - peaks shift along its length so on a clean day there's space to spread out away from the busier south Kerry spots.

The beach is forgiving for beginners on smaller days and a respectable beach break when bigger. It works on W to NW groundswells with E offshore winds. Mid tide is the sweet spot. Banna is also a site of historical note - Roger Casement landed here from a German submarine in 1916.
