About Ballybunion South Beach

South Beach is the smaller of the two beaches at Ballybunion, separated from North Beach by the ruined Ballybunion Castle on the headland. It's a shorter, more sheltered strand - useful on days when North is too big or too windy.

The beach catches W to NW swells with E offshore winds. Mid tide is best. Easy walk from the town centre. Quieter than North on most days, with the same town infrastructure within easy reach.
