About Killiney Bay

Killiney Bay is a wide, south-east-facing cove on the south side of Dublin city - the closest surfable beach to the capital. Dublin Bay itself is rarely surfable, but Killiney picks up SE swells off the Irish Sea and works on NW offshore winds. When it works, it works.

Honestly, Killiney is flat far more often than it has surf - this is east-coast Ireland, not Atlantic west. But on the right autumn or winter SE storm, the bay produces clean, mellow peaks suitable for beginners and intermediates. Dart access from the city makes it the easiest spot in Ireland to check on a hunch.

For more reliable east-coast surf, head south to Brittas Bay.
