About Portrush East Strand

East Strand is the long, sandy beach on the east side of the Portrush peninsula - a forgiving beach break right in front of the town. It's where most Portrush surf schools take beginners, where the local crew warm up, and where the East Strand Beach Hut sits.

The beach is more sheltered than nearby Whiterocks so it handles smaller swells and stays surfable when bigger spots are too wild. Surf schools, board hire and food on the seafront make it one of the most accessible surf spots in the country.
