About Castlerock

Castlerock is the western end of the Benone / Downhill strand - the seaside village sits on the cliffs above the beach, directly beneath the cliff-top Mussenden Temple. The surf here is essentially the same as Benone but with shorter walks and a more developed village feel.

The beach faces NNW and catches plenty of Atlantic swell. It handles size well. Castlerock has a regular surf scene - a surf school, a board hire shop, and a small village with pubs and food along the seafront. Easy to spend a day here without needing a car.
